@Xiaomi_Kenya and @XiaomiNigeria has confirmed that the Redmi Note 9s will officially launch in both Kenya and Nigeria five days from today, which is possibly Wednesday, the 29th of April, 2020. Xiaomi is currently taking the Africa smartphone market more seriously than ever before, and now the company is bringing the recently launched Redmi Note 9s to Kenya and Nigeria, even though the device has not made it to some European and Asian countries, yet.

No details as to invitations or even where the launch event will be taking place, funny! Not needed right?, of course, considering the situations on ground, invitation and event center is not needed! I guess everyone is invited, and if you are looking for the launch center, then look no further – Twitter, via the official handles of both Kenya and Nigeria.

The Redmi Note 9s itself is not a new device to us. It is the international version of the Redmi NOte 9 Pro, and was launched in China back in March with a 6.67-inch Full-HD+ screen, come with a centralized tiny hole (notch) atop the screen, housing the selfie camera, something similar to the Samsung Galaxy A51 and the Galaxy A71.

The device draws strength from an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G CPU which runs at 2.3GHz, pegged with Adreno 618 GPU, 4/6 GB RAM and 64/128 GB of internal storage.

The Note 9s boast of four camera sensors at the back, and a single sensor upfront. At the back, you having a 48-megapixel primary lens, 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens, 5-megapixel macro sensor and 2-megapixel depth sensor along with dual LED flash. For the front, there is a 16-megapixel in-display selfie shooter.

It also has a side placed fingerprint scanner, support dual 4G enabled SIMs, powered by a 5020mAh battery with 18W fast charging via USB Type-C interface and runs on the latest Android 10 out of the box, based on MIUI 11.

So yes, we already know much about the Redmi Note 9s, the only aspect we are yet to know is the pricing, but if the pricing of the Note 8 Pro of last year should be a yardstick, the device could retail around 80K in Nigeria and possibly around 22K in Kenya.
