Xiaomi has quietly listed two new smartphones on its Chinese website, the REDMI R70 5G and REDMI R70m 5G. Both devices seem to be targeted at the affordable 5G segment.
At the moment, both models are labeled as coming soon, so they are not available for purchase yet. However, the listings reveal Xiaomi’s overall approach, focusing on large displays, high battery capacity, and accessible pricing.
The two smartphones share most of their main specifications. On the front, they feature a 6.9 inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 720p plus resolution. While the resolution is not particularly high, it should still handle everyday tasks like browsing, chatting, and streaming without issues.
Both devices are powered by the Unisoc T8300 chipset, built on a 6nm process. They come with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, which is standard for this price range.
Xiaomi is offering multiple configuration options. The REDMI R70 starts with a 4GB plus 128GB variant priced at 1599 yuan and goes up to 8GB plus 256GB. The REDMI R70m does not include the base model and instead goes up to a higher configuration of 12GB plus 256GB.
The main difference between the two lies in battery capacity. The standard R70 includes a 6000mAh battery, while the R70m increases this slightly to 6300mAh. Charging speed is limited to 15W on both devices.
Camera hardware is quite basic. Each phone includes an 8 megapixel front camera and a single 13 megapixel rear sensor, indicating that photography is not a primary focus.
In terms of design, both models follow a familiar style and are available in several color options such as Feather White, Starry Black, and different shades of blue and purple. Despite their large size, the phones maintain a relatively slim profile.
Both devices run HyperOS 3, which is based on Android 16.
Overall, these models are simple budget 5G smartphones. They do not aim to stand out with premium features but instead focus on delivering essential functionality with strong battery life.
