Google has officially released Android 17 for Pixel smartphones, and other manufacturers, including Samsung, are expected to begin rolling out their versions soon. For Galaxy users, the update will arrive as One UI 9.0, with the rollout expected to begin as early as next month.
However, not every Galaxy device will be eligible for the new software. Several models have already reached the end of their promised Android OS upgrade cycle, meaning they will not receive One UI 9.0 based on Android 17. This includes a number of Galaxy A series devices as well as flagship models like the Galaxy S22 lineup, Galaxy S21 FE, and Galaxy Z Fold 4. Samsung Galaxy Devices That Are Not Eligible for One UI 9.0 (Android 17)
Note: Samsung has not officially published a list of devices that will miss the Android 17 update. The following list is based on the company’s current software update policy and expected support timeline.

The list above focuses only on Galaxy devices that received One UI 8.0 but are not expected to qualify for One UI 9.0. Older devices such as the Galaxy S21 series are not included because they had already reached the end of their major Android update cycle before One UI 8.0.
If your Galaxy device appears on this list, it is unlikely to receive the Android 17 based One UI 9.0 update. While Samsung may continue providing security patches for some time, upgrading to a newer Galaxy device is the best way to enjoy future Android features, One UI improvements, and ongoing software support.
