Tecno has officially launched the Pova 8 Pro 5G in India, bringing a feature packed smartphone aimed at users who want more than standard mid range hardware. The phone combines a large battery, high refresh rate AMOLED display, strong water and dust protection, and a unique secondary display on the rear panel.
Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G Specifications
The smartphone features a 6.78 inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It also supports 2592Hz PWM dimming, which is designed to minimize flickering in darker environments and provide a more comfortable viewing experience. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
Durability is another major focus, with the Pova 8 Pro 5G carrying IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings. These certifications provide protection against dust, water immersion, and high pressure water jets.
Powering the device is the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset. Tecno has added a dedicated graphics chip to help improve frame rate stability in compatible games. The phone uses LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, with two configurations available. The entry version comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, while the higher model offers 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
A 6,500mAh battery keeps the phone running, giving it considerably more capacity than the 5,000mAh batteries commonly found in many smartphones. Charging is handled through 45W wired charging, while 10W wired reverse charging is also supported.
The phone also features bypass charging, allowing power from the charger to be supplied directly to the device during demanding activities instead of continuously charging the battery. This can help reduce heat during extended gaming sessions.
Photography is handled by a 50 megapixel Sony LYTIA 700C main camera with optical image stabilization. It is accompanied by an 8 megapixel ultra wide camera, while a 13 megapixel sensor handles selfies and video calls. Both the front and rear camera systems can record 4K video at 30fps.
The Pova 8 Pro 5G runs Android 16 and comes with several built in software features. One of the notable additions is an AI call assistant that can record and transcribe regular phone calls as well as WhatsApp calls. It supports English, Hindi, Bengali, and Marathi.
The AI assistant can also produce summaries of conversations, identify action items, and organize contacts according to information gathered during calls.
One of the phone’s most distinctive design elements is located on the rear. Alongside the triangular camera module is Tecno’s Alive Matrix Display, a compact dot matrix panel made up of 177 Mini LEDs.
The rear display can show information such as battery status, timers, and caller identification. It can also turn into a simple desk clock when the phone is placed face down.
Pricing and Availability
The Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G is offered in Tundra Green, Arc White, and Graphite Black.
The 8GB RAM and 256GB storage version is priced at Rs. 49,999, while the 12GB RAM and 512GB model costs Rs. 54,999.
The smartphone will go on sale in India from August 21, 2026, through Flipkart and selected physical retail stores.
The Pova 8 Pro 5G’s strongest appeal is its combination of durability, battery capacity, and gaming-focused hardware, while the ₹49,999 and ₹54,999 prices make its value versus similarly priced rivals the key question.
