Xiaomi has revealed which of its smartphones and tablets are eligible to receive the new Soft Light Glass interface effect with the upcoming HyperOS 4 update. The feature is designed to bring a more dynamic visual experience to supported devices, although it will initially be limited to hardware capable of handling its more demanding graphics effects.
The list currently applies to the Chinese market, where the HyperOS 4 beta is already available. However, because Xiaomi’s eligibility appears to be determined primarily by chipset performance rather than regional preferences, equivalent global models could also receive the feature when the update expands internationally.
What is the HyperOS 4 Soft Light Glass effect?
The Soft Light Glass design is one of the more visually significant changes coming with HyperOS 4. Its appearance is strongly reminiscent of Apple’s Liquid Glass interface, with translucent elements, lighting effects and dynamic visual interactions.
These effects require considerable graphics processing power, which is why Xiaomi isn’t bringing the feature to every device during the initial HyperOS 4 beta rollout.
According to Xiaomi, the feature will initially be available on devices powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite or newer, Dimensity 9500 or newer, and Xiaomi’s Xring O1 or newer platforms.
However, the company plans to expand support beyond those devices as development continues.

One of the more interesting aspects of Xiaomi’s compatibility list is that the Soft Light Glass effect isn’t being restricted exclusively to its newest flagship devices.
Models such as the Redmi K70, Xiaomi 13 series and Xiaomi MIX Flip are also included, showing that Xiaomi intends to bring the redesigned interface to some older hardware once the necessary optimization is complete.
This could make HyperOS 4 a more substantial visual upgrade for users who don’t own Xiaomi’s latest-generation devices.
Soft Light Glass is already available in the beta
The new interface effect has already started appearing on devices included in the first batch of the HyperOS 4 beta program.
For now, the beta rollout remains limited to China. Xiaomi is expected to expand HyperOS 4 to additional markets later, although the company has yet to provide a complete global rollout schedule for the new interface.
Since the Soft Light Glass effect depends heavily on hardware capabilities, global variants with equivalent chipsets could potentially receive the feature as well.
As Xiaomi continues optimizing HyperOS 4, more devices could also be added to the compatibility list. The final availability may therefore differ from the current beta list once the stable version begins rolling out.
