Recent changes within the Oppo group have affected the strategies of both OnePlus and Realme. While OnePlus continues to operate in China and India after leaving the European and US markets, Realme has stepped back from the Chinese market and is now focusing on smartphone launches in other regions. The brand has also largely concentrated on more affordable devices in recent months.
The Realme 17 Pro+ was last mentioned in leaks several months ago, but new information about the upcoming smartphone has now surfaced. Tipster Digital Chat Station has reportedly revealed details about its display and camera hardware, suggesting that Realme could be preparing another feature packed model for its numbered series.
According to the latest leak, the Realme 17 Pro+ could arrive with a 6.78 inch flat OLED display featuring a 1.5K resolution and a very high refresh rate. The exact refresh rate has not been revealed, but the panel may support at least 144Hz, matching the refresh rate offered by the previous generation.
The camera system is expected to be one of the phone’s major highlights. The leaked setup reportedly includes a 200MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra wide camera, and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens. Earlier reports suggested that the telephoto camera could use Samsung’s JN5 sensor and provide 3.5x optical zoom, while the main camera may rely on Samsung’s HP5 sensor.
There is currently no confirmed information about the processor or battery capacity. For comparison, the Realme 16 Pro+ came with a 7,000mAh battery and 80W wired charging. Realme could maintain a similar battery size on the new model, although an even larger capacity remains possible given that some Realme 16 series phones feature batteries reaching 8,000mAh. More specifications are expected to emerge through future leaks.
Realme has yet to reveal when the 17 Pro+ will officially launch. The latest leak also claims that the smartphone will be targeted exclusively at international markets and will not be introduced in China.
The Realme 17 Pro+’s camera and display upgrades look promising, but its eventual appeal will depend heavily on how its unknown chipset and battery compare with the Realme 16 Pro+.
