Samsung has started distributing its August 2026 security update to Galaxy devices. As with the previous month, the rollout began with a smartwatch before reaching newer Galaxy smartphones and other devices. The update is expected to expand to additional models in the coming days.
According to Samsung’s official security bulletin, the August patch addresses more than 58 security vulnerabilities identified by Google and Samsung. Google related fixes account for 38 of them, including 8 critical issues and 30 high severity vulnerabilities. Samsung has also included 18 fixes specifically targeting its own devices.
Keeping the security patch level current is important because these updates are designed to protect Galaxy devices against newly discovered security threats. Users are therefore encouraged to install the latest patch whenever it becomes available for their device.

The August rollout appears to be moving more slowly than Samsung’s usual monthly update schedule. While the company typically distributes security patches across a wider range of devices relatively quickly, the current rollout has been limited so far. More Galaxy models are expected to join the list as the month progresses.
If your Galaxy device is included above, you can check whether the update is available by opening Settings, selecting Software updates, and tapping Download and install. Samsung distributes updates in stages, so availability can vary by region, carrier, and device, meaning some users may have to wait several days before receiving the notification.
