Hardware and software

The CAMON 50 Ultra 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset. Built using a 4 nanometer manufacturing process, the processor is designed to deliver a balance between performance and power efficiency.

The phone features a 6.78 inch curved AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution. The panel supports refresh rates up to 144Hz, which helps deliver smoother scrolling and better responsiveness when switching between applications. TECNO has also included its ProXDR eye care technology to help reduce eye fatigue during extended use. The device is backed by a 6500mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging, allowing users to quickly top up the large battery.

TECNO integrates several AI based tools into the software experience. These include an improved Ella smart assistant, an AI image to video generator, 3D PhotoSpace, and the AI LightMaster 2.0 imaging system.

The company promises three major Android version upgrades along with up to five years of security updates. In addition, users will receive 50GB of TECNO Cloud storage annually for the first three years.

Durability is another highlight. The CAMON 50 Ultra 5G carries IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, indicating strong resistance to dust, water immersion, and high pressure water sprays. The device also meets MIL STD 810 military certification standards, meaning it has passed various durability tests including drops, shocks, and physical stress conditions.

Camera hardware and imaging features

The CAMON 50 Ultra 5G comes with a triple camera system designed to handle different photography scenarios. Its main camera uses a 50 megapixel Sony LYT 700C sensor with optical image stabilization. The sensor size is 1 over 1.56 inches, which allows it to capture more light and deliver better results in low light environments.

The second camera is a 50 megapixel telephoto lens that supports 3x optical zoom. This lens is designed for portrait photography and capturing distant subjects without significant loss in image quality.

An 8 megapixel ultra wide camera completes the rear setup, enabling users to capture wider scenes such as landscapes, architecture, and group shots.

TECNO complements the hardware with several software enhancements. AI 60x SuperZoom expands zoom capabilities through AI processing, while Super Zoom FlashSnap helps maintain stability and clarity when capturing images at high zoom levels. The phone also supports Live Photo, which records brief motion clips around each captured image. Additionally, it includes a dedicated Underwater Photography mode for shooting in wet environments.

According to TECNO, the smartphone achieved an overall camera score of 146 on DXOMARK. The company claims this is the highest rating for a smartphone priced below 600 dollars. The device also received a portrait photography score of 142.
