The Xiaomi 16 Ultra is expected to launch early next year, likely around the time of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, alongside the standard Xiaomi 16. Although the release is still months away, early leaks from multiple sources have begun to shed light on what to expect from the device. The Xiaomi 16 Ultra is rumored to include a 1-inch main rear camera and may be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. It is set to follow the Xiaomi 15 Ultra as the brand’s next flagship.
Xiaomi 16 Ultra Specifications (Expected)
According to tipster Kartikey Singh on X, the Xiaomi 16 Ultra is expected to bring significant upgrades to its camera system. While no specific details were shared in that post, more information has surfaced via Chinese tipster Bessing Digital on Weibo. This leak suggests that the main camera will use a 50-megapixel 1-inch sensor, which should deliver better dynamic range.
The camera setup is also said to include a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and up to 5x optical zoom, along with a 50-megapixel Sony LYT600 ultra-wide-angle sensor. By comparison, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra featured a quad camera system consisting of a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-900 primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, a 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 telephoto lens, and a 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP9 periscope camera.
Additional details from the leak indicate that the Xiaomi 16 Ultra will come with a 6.8-inch LTPO display offering 2K resolution and an adaptive refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. The screen is expected to have slim bezels and could be protected by ceramic glass. The device may also sport a 3D-printed titanium alloy middle frame and will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip.
Battery capacity is rumored to fall between 7,000mAh and 7,500mAh. Charging options could include 100W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging. These would mark a noticeable improvement over the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which came with a 5,410mAh battery and supported 90W wired and 80W wireless charging.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra launched in India in March at Rs. 1,09,999 for its 16GB RAM + 512GB storage version. It featured a 6.73-inch quad curved LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, was powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and had a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. It also carried an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
